![]() The current iteration of the anime is Pokémon Journeys, which is a soft reboot of sorts. Following the young Ash Ketchum and his Gym Leader friends, the series traverses the original Kanto region before venturing to the settings of Gold and Silver, Ruby and Sapphire and later games in the franchise. The Pokémon anime began in 1997, around the same time as the manga adaptations started. RELATED: Konosuba: How to Get Started With the Anime & Manga Where to Watch the Pokémon Anime ![]() Thus, the main series is the best bet for reading Pokémanga. Sadly, a lot of the earlier adventures such as The Electric Tale of Pikachu are hard to track down and somewhat expensive when they are. The series can be read digitally on the Comixology platform, while physical and online retailers like Amazon also carry the books. Series creator Satoshi Tajiri once remarked that Pokémon Adventures is the closest the franchise has ever gotten to his original vision for it. Beyond these, there are over 20 other manga in the franchise that have been localized and translated into English, many of them following different cast members and adapting various seasons of the anime or video game entries. Also popular are the iconic four-volume series Pokémon: The Electric Tale of Pikachu and the more shojo-oriented Magical Pokémon Journey. Having amassed 59 total collected volumes, the series is still ongoing to this day. The first of these, Pokémon Adventures, was first released in 1997. To say that there are an overwhelming amount of Pokémon manga to read and catch up on is the understatement of the century. Typically adding to the plot is some sort of evil team, with Team Rocket being the most consistent. From there, the Elite Four can be fought, with whoever defeats them being crowned the regional champion. The trainer's trials also involve fighting other trainers and their Pokémon - namely, the professional Pokémon Gym Leaders. ![]() This involves choosing one of his own Pokémon as a "starter" at the beginning of his adventures and battling various other Pocket Monsters in the wild. The broad story of the franchise features a young boy (sometimes called Ash and other times Red) who embarks on a journey to become a Pokémon trainer. ![]()

Bookworm Adventures, Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords, and even Peggle have done more for advancing originality in casual games. Is Bejeweled Twist a revolution to the puzzle genre? Not really. In fact, an old Game Boy game called Brain Drain did something similar back in 1998. ![]() Make more matches, however, and you'll begin to earn colored fruits which, in addition to getting rid of ticking bombs, offer a whole host of points as well as initiating grid-changing events that are a sight to see. Keep making matches without needlessly twisting gems and you'll earn ten times as many points for each row you obliterate. Each time you make successive matches a points multiplier increases on the left side of the screen. Here, however, you adopt a chess-like stance of careful observation. Most matching games pit you against the clock or otherwise rush you to do your job. Here's where Bejeweled Twist earns its hyper addictive nature. ![]() No need to learn a completely different genre of gameplay when you can make a familiar one new again. Same matching flavor, brand new method of play. ![]() Bejeweled Twist doesn't reinvent the match-3, it shuffles the base mechanics. After I played it for a few minutes, however, the magic became strikingly clear. I was initially let down when I saw the brave new gameplay mechanic was nothing more than a little twist. Practice makes perfect, and a little luck never hurts either.Īnalysis: I walked into Bejeweled Twist with high expectations. Getting to the top is a simple matter of learning the most effective way to play the game, then diving right in. In addition to points, Classic mode features stars you collect to earn a named rank. The overreaching goal in Bejeweled Twist is the same as most matching games: get a high score. Challenge is the most unique mode and sets you to a number of tasks (such as "match eight gems with one move") to see how skilled you are at twisting. Zen mode is like Classic only without those stressful bombs getting in the way. Match the bombs to make them disappear, otherwise you'll have to spin a roulette wheel and hope you survive.īlitz mode features a similar setup but tasks you with scoring as many points as you can within five minutes. Bomb gems appear from time to time, ticking down to a game-ending explosion with each move you make. When its full, you blast off to the next world (puzzle grid) for more twisting. Classic will eat up the bulk of your time and features a loose space theme where you fill a ship's power tube by matching gems. After years of shameless clones, that's a very, very good thing.įour gameplay modes allow Bejeweled Twist to satisfy a wide range of puzzle gaming tastes: Classic, Blitz, Challenge, and Zen. But the twist changes things just enough so you have to teach yourself to play a match-3 all over again. The core matching mechanics are untouched, so gamers will immediately find familiar territory. Instead of clicking a single tile and then choosing an adjacent space to move it to, Bejeweled Twist turns your cursor into a 2x2 circle that spins its contents one quarter turn clockwise. So what's the big change? Twisting is in, swapping is out. Four years in the making, Bejeweled Twist is PopCap's latest installment in the well-recognized series that brings some much-needed freshness to a relatively stale genre. And that's not counting the hundreds of millions of times its been downloaded. First released in 2001, the now-classic match-3 puzzle game Bejeweled has sold more than 25 million copies in its lifetime. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Well, I've never really bought this argument when it comes to samplers. I'm not saying that tuning your OS will fix your problems, but it might be worth some experimentation and there are a ton of websites that offer tips on tuning Windows for real time audio processing. But neither the Reason or Kontakt or other software have that sound. So I decided to dig in and tune Windows to function more efficiently at processing real time audio.Īfter tuning Windows, it took a couple of days of research and lots of experimentation, I was seeing DSP usage numbers on par with Reaper. This puzzled me and I exchanged a few emails with Harrison support, where they gave a few ideas to play with and none of them helped. Yet, I was seeing very poor performance on Mixbus and my other daw (Reaper) was running fine. My most recent system is a 12 core Xeon (3.0 Ghz) with 48 Gbytes of ram and is a beast of a machine. Mixbus doesn't play well out of the box on certain Windows setups and I was one of those who was seeing poor performance numbers, just like you are now witnessing. I started out using an internal audio chip set and had mediocre performance and soon switched to a external firewire interface with quality drivers and noticed a significant improvement in latency numbers over the internal audio. Since I don't know the parameters you used in your comparison, I can't comment on your setup. Please, can you tell us, which of your most quality interface you mean and whats the performance gain if you use it with Mixbus? I have tested now with my SD50, with Roland ASIO driver and the performance is worse than with internal soundcard and ASIO4ALL. Most quality interfaces use custom drivers that are tuned to work with the hardware as well as the protocol. He is using ASIO4ALL which is a generic program made to work on multiple interfaces/audio chip sets and adds additional latency. The Pad-80 had a patch chain function that allowed a series of 32 patches to be arranged in any sequence, eight of these chains could be stored in memory. Further improvements to the MIDI specification included the control of modulation, pitch bend and aftertouch using a foot pedal, along with full System Exclusive (SysEx) capability. The memory was increased, allowing up to 64 different patches internally and another 64 patches to be stored on a Roland M-256E memory card. These new features were groundbreaking at the time, and are still utilized in Roland's electronic percussion today. This feature became useful for creating more realistic sounding drum parts, and in addition allowed drummers to play melodic instruments with greater ease. Improvements in this second model included the ability to play up to three notes per pad, and velocity switching, which allowed the user to stack or alternate between the assigned notes depending on how hard the pads were struck. Again the Pad-80 was an eight pad MIDI controller that allowed for various types of MIDI sound sources. The second model, introduced in 1989, was the Pad-80 Octapad II.

When the stock was refinished on mine I told the gunsmith I wanted them to start at the back of the checkering and taper the wood until it touched the forend iron. They made the wood bulkier than the forend iron which I think really takes away from the lines of the gun. I have been curious whether or not an earlier forend will fit on the later guns.
